Meet Sarah Whitmore … Founder of Haven of Recipes
Hi, I’m Sarah Whitmore, and this blog is where I pour every memory that ever tasted like home.
I didn’t set out to become a food writer, I just wanted to remember how it felt to be ten years old, watching a pot of soup bubble while Mom hummed in the kitchen.
Cooking became my way of staying connected, to my family, to the past, and to something quiet and sacred.
Haven of Recipes is where I share those meals that held us together. It’s not fancy food, it’s food with a heartbeat.
Meet my parents, James and Eva
Dad’s roast chicken could turn a rough day into a celebration. Mom’s biscuits? They healed things you didn’t even know were broken.
They didn’t cook for applause, they cooked for presence. The kitchen was their love letter to us.
Dad believed every dish should take its time. Mom believed a recipe needed soul more than perfection.
They never taught me to cook with instructions, they taught me to feel it. Every spoonful I share here has their fingerprints on it.

Jennifer, The Sweetness in Every Slice
My sister Jennifer always saw baking as magic. Where I saw ingredients, she saw stories.
Even as a kid, she’d tie her apron like a cape, ready to turn sugar into something unforgettable. Her joy was in the little things, a sprinkle here, a swirl there, a giggle when the cake rose just right.
The dessert section of this blog? That’s her world. It’s full of laughter, sweetness, and the gentle belief that every day deserves a treat.
A Family Held Together by Food
This isn’t a food empire. It’s just us, flour-dusted, apron-wearing, story-swapping home cooks. We built this blog like we built our dinners: slowly, lovingly, and with everyone involved.
Haven of Recipes is more than a collection of meals. It’s a scrapbook of flavors, a tribute to Sunday suppers and weeknight traditions. If you’ve ever made a dish that reminded you of someone you love, then you already understand what this place is all about.
