A sweet pull-apart treat made with blueberries, perfect for brunch and warm gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and let it sit until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, egg, and salt and stir to combine.
  3. Gradually add flour and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about five minutes until smooth.
  5. Cover dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about one hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  8. Roll dough into small balls and coat each ball in the sugar mix.
  9. Grease a bundt pan and layer coated dough balls and blueberries inside.
  10. Bake the bundt pan for thirty to thirty-five minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and milk until smooth to make the glaze.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over the warm monkey bread before serving.

Notes

To keep the blueberries from sinking, coat them lightly in flour before adding them between the dough pieces. For a twist, you can use half whole-wheat flour or add rolled oats for texture.
