Description

Deliciously crispy and warm caramel apple empanadas, perfect for cool weather.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups diced fresh apples
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 package empanada dough discs
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix diced apples, cream cheese, sugar, and cinnamon in a medium bowl until well blended.
  2. Place a spoonful of the apple mix in the center of each empanada dough disc.
  3. Fold each disc into a half moon and press the edges to seal.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Fry the empanadas until they are golden brown on both sides, about 3 to 4 minutes per side.
  6. Remove empanadas from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
  7. Drizzle caramel sauce over the warm empanadas before you serve.

Notes

For a lighter version, swap half the cream cheese for Greek yogurt and reduce sugar. Can also bake at 375 F for 15-20 minutes.
