Chicken Kofta with Garlic Yogurt Sauce

Description

A warm, bright meal of chicken koftas served with a creamy garlic yogurt sauce, perfect for quick family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground chicken
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Put the ground chicken in a large bowl.
  2. Add the chopped onion.
  3. Add the minced garlic.
  4. Add the parsley.
  5. Add the cumin.
  6. Add the coriander.
  7. Add the salt and black pepper.
  8. Mix the meat mix well with clean hands.
  9. Shape the mix into small oval koftas.
  10. Preheat the grill and brush it with oil.
  11. Place the koftas on the hot grill.
  12. Turn the koftas now and then as they brown.
  13. Grill for about 10 to 12 minutes until cooked through.
  14. Put the yogurt in a small bowl.
  15. Add the lemon juice and a pinch of salt to the yogurt.
  16. Stir the yogurt mix until smooth.
  17. Serve the koftas with the garlic yogurt sauce on the side.

Notes

For a healthier version, you can swap half the chicken with finely chopped mushrooms. Use low-fat yogurt if desired.
