Description

A creamy, cheesy delight with layers of tender potatoes, rich cream, and melted cheese, perfect as a comforting side dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheese (usually Gruyère or Cheddar)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, boil the diced potatoes until tender, then drain.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and sauté the onions until translucent.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream, sautéed onions, salt, and pepper.
  5. Layer half of the potatoes in a baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture over, and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  6. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  7. Sprinkle paprika on top for garnish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

Notes

For a lighter version, use low-fat cream and less butter. You can add vegetables like spinach or broccoli for extra nutrition.
