Description

A deliciously sweet Crème Brûlée French Toast, perfect for special occasions or a cozy breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar for topping
  • Optional: fresh berries for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  2. Place the brioche slices in a baking dish, layering them as needed.
  3. Pour the custard mixture over the bread, ensuring all slices are soaked.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 120 minutes or overnight.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Remove the dish from the refrigerator and sprinkle brown sugar on top of the soaked brioche.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the toast is golden and set in the center.
  8. For an extra caramelized top, use a kitchen torch to melt and caramelize the brown sugar before serving.
  9. Serve warm with fresh berries, if desired.

Notes

For healthier options, consider using whole grain bread and substituting half the heavy cream with Greek yogurt. You can also reduce the sugar or use a sugar substitute.
