- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- In a shallow dish, place flour and season with salt and pepper.
- In another dish, whisk eggs and water together.
- In a third dish, mix Panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off excess.
- Dip chicken in egg mixture, then coat in breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add chicken breasts and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Transfer skillet to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Stir in flour and cook for another minute.
- Gradually whisk in chicken broth and cream.
- Cook, whisking continuously, until sauce is smooth and thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove sauce from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Season sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove chicken from the oven and serve topped with garlic cream sauce.
- Garnish with chopped parsley.
Notes
For a lighter version, air-fry the chicken and substitute Greek yogurt for the heavy cream. Avoid overcrowding the pan for crispy chicken.
