Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh mulberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine fresh mulberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  3. Stir gently until mixed.
  4. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
  5. Pour the mulberry mixture into the crust and dot with butter.
  6. Roll out another pie crust to cover the filling or create a lattice design on top.
  7. Seal the edges and brush the top with an egg wash for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
