- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- Extra chopped pecans
- Sea salt flakes
- Drizzled caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
- Combine flour and brown sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Sprinkle the pecan halves in an even layer over the crust.
- In a small saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar for the caramel layer. Place over medium heat and stir constantly.
- Cook the mixture until it bubbles and changes color, then continue cooking for one minute after boiling.
- Carefully pour the caramel mixture evenly over the pecans and crust.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot bars. Allow to soften.
- Spread the melted chocolate into an even layer.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. For a gluten-free version, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
