- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (thick consistency recommended)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Optional toppings & mix-ins: everything bagel seasoning, 2 tsp cinnamon, shredded cheese, garlic & herbs, chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in cinnamon if making a sweet version.
- Add Greek yogurt and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead gently on a floured surface for 2–3 minutes until smooth.
- Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Shape into bagels by either rolling into a rope and connecting ends or forming a ball, flattening, and poking a hole in the center.
- Place bagels on prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with desired toppings.
- Bake 22–25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly on baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
Use thick Greek yogurt for best texture. Don’t over-knead to keep bagels fluffy. Egg wash gives shine and helps toppings stick.
