Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the maple syrup, egg, vanilla extract, and maple extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are crisp and the centers are chewy.
  8. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, top with creamy maple icing.

Notes

For a healthier option, swap half of the butter for applesauce or use whole wheat flour for added fiber. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week.
