Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In another large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the maple syrup, egg, vanilla extract, and maple extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are crisp and the centers are chewy.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Once cooled, top with creamy maple icing.
Notes
For a healthier option, swap half of the butter for applesauce or use whole wheat flour for added fiber. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week.
