- 1 (9 inch) pre-baked chocolate pie crust
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, salt, and milk until smooth.
- Gradually add the cocoa mixture to the butter mixture, beating until well combined.
- Fold in the chopped pecans and shredded coconut.
- Pour the filling into the pre-baked pie crust.
- Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 240 minutes, or until firm.
- Serve cold.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for butter and use a sugar substitute if desired.
