Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup white chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  5. Stir in the red food coloring and vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the white chocolate chunks.
  8. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are set but still soft.
  10. Let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For a healthier version, substitute whole wheat flour and reduce sugar. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
