Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (such as cheddar)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, then sprinkle with a layer of cheese and garlic.
  4. Pour half of the heavy cream and milk mixture over the potatoes. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  5. Repeat layers with the remaining potatoes, cheese, and cream mixture.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a healthy twist, consider low-fat cheese or adding steamed vegetables. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
