Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup candied plums, finely chopped
  • Sprinkles or sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the salt, flour, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the mixture.
  3. Stir until the dough comes together.
  4. Fold in the chopped candied plums gently.
  5. Chill the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into shapes.
  8. Place the cookies on a lined baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar or sprinkles.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For a healthier version, substitute half of the butter with unsweetened applesauce or use whole wheat flour for added fiber.
