Description

A simple, warm Swedish Apple Cake that features rich apple flavors, perfect for serving with tea or ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Mix the melted butter and sugar in a large bowl until they blend well.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla and stir until the mix looks smooth.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Add the dry mix slowly to the wet mix and stir until just combined.
  6. Fold the sliced apples into the batter so they spread out.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool before you cut it and serve.

Notes

For a lighter version, use less sugar and whole wheat flour or include nuts on top before baking.
