  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each.
  4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add dry mix to wet mix until just combined.
  6. Scoop dough onto the prepared sheet and leave space between cookies.
  7. Make a small indent in each cookie for the caramel.
  8. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until edges are light gold and centers still soft.
  9. Cool cookies slightly on the sheet before adding caramel.
  10. Fill each indent with caramel sauce.
  11. Melt chocolate chips until smooth and drizzle over each cookie.
  12. Let the chocolate set before serving.

Notes

For a healthier variation, substitute half the butter with unsweetened applesauce and use dark chocolate for more flavor. Ensure not to overmix once the flour is added.
