A delightful Chocolate Chip Pull Apart Bread that evokes sweet memories and fills your kitchen with a comforting aroma.
Ingredients
Scale
- Cooking spray
- 1 (1/4 oz.) packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed to 110 degrees
- 7 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened, divided
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1 large egg
- 3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Grease a large bowl with cooking spray.
- Sprinkle yeast over warmed milk and let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
- Microwave 3 tablespoons of butter in 10-second increments until melted, about 30 seconds total.
- Whisk together flour, brown sugar, and salt in a stand mixer bowl.
- Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the flour mix.
- Mix on low speed until the dough comes together, then mix on medium until smooth, 3 to 5 minutes.
- Transfer the dough to the greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled in size, 1 to 2 hours.
- Roll the dough out to an 18×12 inch rectangle.
- Spread the remaining butter on the dough and sprinkle it with granulated sugar.
- Layer with mini chocolate chips and cut the dough into strips.
- Arrange the strips in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for an additional 30 to 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for 15 minutes before removing the bread from the pan.
Notes
Allow the dough to rise properly for the best texture. Check the bread for doneness by looking for a golden brown top and a hollow sound when tapped.
