  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed to 110 degrees
  • 7 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened, divided
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Grease a large bowl with cooking spray.
  2. Sprinkle yeast over warmed milk and let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
  3. Microwave 3 tablespoons of butter in 10-second increments until melted, about 30 seconds total.
  4. Whisk together flour, brown sugar, and salt in a stand mixer bowl.
  5. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the flour mix.
  6. Mix on low speed until the dough comes together, then mix on medium until smooth, 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Transfer the dough to the greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled in size, 1 to 2 hours.
  8. Roll the dough out to an 18×12 inch rectangle.
  9. Spread the remaining butter on the dough and sprinkle it with granulated sugar.
  10. Layer with mini chocolate chips and cut the dough into strips.
  11. Arrange the strips in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for an additional 30 to 45 minutes.
  12. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  13. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
  14. Cool for 15 minutes before removing the bread from the pan.
