Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque

Description

A rich and creamy seafood bisque filled with crab and shrimp, perfect for warming up on a cool day.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb crab meat
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups seafood stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for one minute.
  4. Whisk in the seafood stock slowly until the mix is smooth.
  5. Add the Old Bay seasoning and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Bring the soup to a gentle simmer.
  7. Add the shrimp and crab and cook until the shrimp turn pink.
  8. Stir in the heavy cream and warm through without boiling.
  9. Taste and adjust the salt and pepper.
  10. Serve hot with chopped parsley on top.

Notes

For a lighter bisque, reduce the heavy cream and add low fat milk with a spoon of Greek yogurt at the end.
