Easy Avocado Toast

Description

A quick and fresh recipe for avocado toast, perfect for a calm morning.


Ingredients

  • 2 large ripe Hass avocados
  • 2 thick slices of sourdough or other rustic bread
  • 1 small clove of garlic, peeled
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice (from about half a lime)
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 tbsp finely diced red onion
  • ½ tsp flaky sea salt (plus more for sprinkling)
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling, optional)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Toast the sourdough slices until they are golden and firm.
  2. Rub the cut side of the peeled garlic clove on one side of each hot toast slice.
  3. Halve the avocados and remove the pits.
  4. Scoop the avocado flesh into a medium bowl.
  5. Mash the avocado gently with a fork for a chunky texture.
  6. Add the lime juice, chopped coriander, diced red onion, sea salt, and black pepper.
  7. Fold the mixture until it looks even but still a bit chunky.
  8. Taste and add more salt or lime juice if you think it needs it.
  9. Spread the avocado mix evenly on each toast slice with the back of a spoon.
  10. Drizzle a little olive oil over the top if you like a silkier finish.
  11. Sprinkle red pepper flakes and a pinch of flaky sea salt for the last touch.
  12. Serve the toast right away so the bread stays crisp.

Notes

For lighter variations, try whole grain or rye bread, use half an avocado per slice, or swap olive oil for extra lime juice.
